When I asked Alex what he wanted for our anniversary, he replied, “Something handmade.”
When it comes to handmade goods, I’m very, very interested in the idea, but getting started on a project is another story. For instance, I started making the most sweetest scalloped-edged skirt. Eight months later and it’s still sitting unfinished on a dining room chair. As I promised myself no more than one project at a time, nothing is really getting done. But it will be completed, I know that for sure. Just not today.
So I pondered, brainstorming ideas of something handmade yet also doable to make Lex for our anniversary. I settled on a cute illustration on a card, as I’ve been meaning to start experimenting with such designs. I was a bit of a drawer in high school, mainly portraits, and although I love drawing, it can be very time-consuming. I needed something quick. So my idea was a card with two pies in love on it, as one of our favourite pet names for each other is “pie” (yes, we’re one of those couples!) So, I made Alex into a blueberry pie, and I myself into a cherry pie. And he loved his present! I feel so thoughtful and creative. I even made him more tanned than myself, just like in real life.
I wanted to share my illustration with you in notepaper form. Print to your heart’s delight and enjoy. Use it for writing your hopes, dreams, poems… or use it as a paper plane. Either way, I’m happy. Download the PDF here.
