New Zealand

21 December 2011

In three days we depart for New Zealand. We are terribly excited.

This trip has been in the making since July. Alex suggested it actually. You’d think that living this close to New Zealand would make it more likely for Australians to visit, but this is not the case.

We decided on New Zealand for our end of year trip because it seems like an adventurous but safe option. We were also considering Thailand but the flights were a little expensive. Maybe next year.

My year of casual work (or you might say unemployment) has provided me with many a spare hour to plan for the trip. However, I still have managed to leave most of the planning to the last minute, although I can’t say I’m surprised.

It’s going to be a tiring trip. We are road tripping from Christchurch to Auckland in a small time frame of twelve days. Alex doesn’t have a license yet so I’ll be a very experienced driver by the end of it.

Our itinerary is as follows:

December
25: Christchurch
26: Queenstown
27: Milford Sound
28: Franz Josef
29: Greymouth
30: Nelson
31: Wellington

January
2: Taupo
3: Rotorua
4: Auckland
5: Melbourne

I told you we’ll be busy.
